what this site collects: counted and disclosed before it happens.

this page governs gaige.dev and the gaige Python package. it is short because there is little to disclose, and keeping it that way is a design goal with the same standing as any other on this site.

gaige.dev serves static pages. the analytics and advertising sections below state what third-party scripts run and what they collect. on your side there are up to four bits of localStorage. one remembers the skin you picked. one remembers when you last stopped by, so the front page can point out what changed. one remembers that you dismissed that note. one remembers your analytics choice, where a choice was asked. nothing in there ever leaves your machine.

the pages are delivered through a commercial content delivery network, which keeps ordinary infrastructure logs (IP address, request path, timing) under its own policy. that is the network operating, not this site collecting.

google analytics 4 runs on every page, loaded by our own ga4.js. it counts page views and, through enhanced measurement, scrolls, outbound clicks, and file downloads. it sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_MT82Z7C1S7, which persist for two years per google’s cookie documentation. google’s servers receive each request’s ip address to derive coarse location; google states that analytics does not log or store ip addresses.

region behavior differs. outside the eea, uk, and switzerland, measurement is on by default. inside those regions everything stays off until you answer the banner: accept turns measurement on, essential only keeps it off, and either choice persists in localStorage on your device. before a choice, and after a decline, requests to google carry no cookies and no persistent identifier. you can change your analytics choice at any time from this page, whatever your region. our server logs stay anonymized at write regardless, described below.

since 2026-07-29 the origin server keeps a short access log, because a site that wants to publish useful pages needs to know which ones get read. the log is anonymized at the moment of writing, never after: the last octet of an IPv4 address is zeroed (a v6 address keeps two hextets) before anything touches disk, the two-letter country code the delivery network derives rides along, and a full address is never stored on our side. entries expire after 30 days by rotation, and the reports built from them live outside the webroot.

the log needs no consent banner of its own: nothing gets stored on your device and nobody is identified. the banner that does appear in some regions belongs to the analytics tooling above, not to this log; the counting here happens entirely on the server your browser was already talking to.

pip install gaige phones nowhere. the package carries no telemetry, no update checks, no usage reporting. the only network calls it ever makes are the ones you invoke by name (fetching a corpus, or pulling a model through a provider you configured), and disconnected operation is a supported, documented mode, not an accident.

the google adsense script loads on every page. third-party vendors, google among them, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other sites; google’s ads settings and aboutads.info are the standing opt-outs. in the eea, uk, and switzerland a consent choice appears before ad personalization starts.
